Takimi-Koji gourmet street -  via A Japan Photo per Day -

Umeda Sky Building, Takimi-Koji gourmet street, Osaka

Osaka is well renowned for its cuisine, specialties such as okonomiyaki, takoyaki (octopus dumplings), udon (Japanese noodles) or oshizushi (pressed sushi) being very appreciated by Japanese and foreign visitors alike.

An old Japanese saying states that people from Kyoto are overspending on clothing and people from Osaka are overspending on food… So obviously, you will find a lot of great places to eat in Osaka. Until now, my favorite is the Takimi-Koji gourmet street, an interesting “street” located at the first basement of the Umeda Sky Building. Takimi-Koji is actually the replica of a 1920s street from Osaka, with restaurants, small shops and traditional decorations like the Tengu mask from the photo… and I enjoyed here not only good food but also a romantic atmosphere suggesting the early Shōwa period.
